Mercedes Benz India Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 1994. It has its headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra, India. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the German Daimler AG. The company was renamed DaimlerChrysler India Pvt. Ltd. after the merger of the parent company Daimler with Chrysler. After DaimlerChrysler demerged in 2007 it was renamed to Daimler AG. Later it renamed it to Mercedes-Benz India. Mercedes-Benz India manufacturing facilities are spread over 100 acres at Chakan, Maharashtra. This plant was set up in 2009 and is rated as one of the top-most CKD plants of Mercedes-Benz globally.
Mercedes-AMG became a majority owned division of Mercedes-Benz in 1999. The company was integrated into DaimlerChrysler in 1999, and became Mercedes-Benz AMG beginning on 1 January 1999.
Daimler's ultra-luxury brand Maybach was under Mercedes-Benz cars division until 2013, when the production stopped due to poor sales volumes. It now exists under the Mercedes-Maybach name, with the models being a statement of ultra-luxury, such as the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600.
