Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan. Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan has its headquarters in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. Kirloskar Group is a also a minority owner in the Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited in India. Toyota Motor Corporation entered India in 1997 in a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group.
TKMPL launched the Toyota Qualis in 2000 and discontinued the production later in 2005.
TKMPL launched the Toyota Corolla in India in 2003. Corolla was introduced in the world market in 1966.

The history of Toyota started in 1933 with the company being a division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works devoted to the production of automobiles under the direction of the founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda. In 1934, the division produced its first Type A Engine, which was used in the first Model A1 passenger car in May 1935 and the G1 truck in August 1935. Toyota Motor Co. was established as an independent and separate company in 1937.
