About Honda

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) is a subsidiary of Honda Japan for the production, marketing and export of passenger cars in India. Formerly it was known as Honda Seil Cars India Ltd, and began its operations in 1995 as a Joint Venture between Honda Motor Company and Usha International of Siddarth Shriram Group.

In August 2012, Honda bought out Usha International's entire shake of 3.16 percent in the joint venture. The Company officially changed its name to Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) and became a 100% subsidiary of Honda.

HCIL's first manufacturing unit at Greater Noida commenced operations in 1997. The plant spreads over 150 acres. In 2016, in India the company produces and sells the Honda Brio and Jazz hatchbacks, Mobilio in the MPV segment, Honda Amaze and Honda City in the sedan segment, Honda BR-V - The compact SUV and the Honda CR-V - The premium SUV.
