The Czech carmaker Skoda has launched the sportier version of the premium sedan Octavia, the Octavia RS in the Indian market. The Octavia RS is priced at Rs.24.62 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
Exterior and Interior Styling
The front gets a glossy black grille with chrome surround and the RS logo. It is flanked by full-LED, Quadra headlights, which come with integrated LED DRLs. The front bumper features large intakes for a sporty aggressive look. The rear of the RS gets a rear spoiler and a black diffuser with a pair of sporty stainless steel tailpipes.
The Octavia RS gets an all-black interior with red accent and stitching. It gets 12-way electrically adjustable sport seats with Alcantara upholstery and memory function. The flat-bottom, 3-spoke multi-functional sports steering wheel comes wrapped in perforated leather. The car has paddle shifters placed behind the wheel for manually changing the gears. It also gets leather gear knob with RS logo, an RS themed instrument panel and sill plates with RS logo. The Octavia RS comes with an 8-inch touchscreen Amundsen infotainment system with Skoda Media Command App with BossConnect feature. The infotainment system supports MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Further the car gets dual-zone climate control, LED ambient lighting (with ten colour options) and panoramic electric sunroof. The new Octavia RS also gets cruise control, hands-free parking and adaptive headlights for added convenience.
The RS is 15 mm lower than the regular Octavia. The car sits on ‘Hawk Anthracite’ 17-inch alloy wheels. It gets disc brakes all around with red painted calipers.
The car is available in four exterior colour options - Candy White, Race Blue, Steel Grey and Corrida Red.
The Octavia RS is powered by 1984 cc, turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 230 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with sport mode powering the front wheels. Skoda claims that the Octavia RS will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
On the safety front, the car gets ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with multi-collision brake, 8 airbags and ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) with MSR (Motor Speed Regulation).
